Bangkok, 12 December 2024 – The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangkok, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), hosted a meaningful donation ceremony on December 12, 2024. The event, which focused on bridging educational and mobility gaps for women, children, and individuals with disabilities, saw the donation of vehicles and student uniforms to various organizations.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Park Yongmin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Thailand; Ms. Youngsuk Jun, Country Director of KOICA Thailand Office; and Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA.

The event began with opening remarks by Ambassador Park, followed by remarks on cooperation from Ms. Jun and Mrs. Hiam, who emphasized the importance of international collaboration in empowering vulnerable groups and promoting inclusivity.

Mr. Piroon Laismit, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), delivered heartfelt appreciation remarks. “Each vehicle is more than just transportation; it is a pathway to opportunity,” said Mr. Laismit. “Each uniform is a symbol of dignity and inclusion, offering children the chance to learn and grow with confidence.” He expressed sincere gratitude to both the Korean and Thai governments for their ongoing support of APCD’s mission to foster an inclusive society.

After the speeches, attendees moved outdoors to the vehicle donation area, where the vehicles were formally presented to the recipient organizations. A group photo session was held to commemorate the event.

In closing, Mr. Laismit emphasized the profound impact of the donations, noting that the vehicles would provide crucial mobility for people with disabilities, while the uniforms would support educational programs and promote inclusion. He expressed his deep appreciation for the partnership and its contribution to building bridges of understanding and cooperation across borders.

The ceremony concluded with a final group photo, marking the success of this meaningful initiative. Through these generous donations, APCD, along with its partners, continues to advance the vision of a society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to participate fully and reach their potential.
