Disability Equality Training (DET) Facilitator Training (FT) 2024:
Introduction
The workshop organized to develop deeper strategic foresight and future-oriented culture which can enable a wide set of tools
to support strategic planning, prioritization and advance effective preparedness which focusing a future for planetary health
and human wellbeing.
APCD representative was invited as expert to share inputs and exchange knowledge and skills, especially on health and
human wellbeing.
More than 40 experts attended and shared their vision for future directions and codifying UNEP’s approach, methodology
and mutually agreed Strategic Foresight function.
Prof. Dr. Amara Pongsapich, the representative of Thailand to the AICHR delivered the welcome remarks at the opening session.
There were more than 80 participants from ASEAN, government, civil society and organizations of persons with disabilities attended this important event.
The Contents were about review, monitor, good practices as well as the discussion on ways forward for future directions of promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities and creation of the inclusive society.
APCD representative attended the event and shared the valuable inputs to enhance the collaboration among stakeholders to promote bottom-up and top-down approaches on the 5 December 2023.

One of the good practice sessions of the training course at the independent living center for persons with physical impairments implemented the barrier-free society of Sendai city, Miyagi prefecture.

Dr. Tej Bunnag, the president of the APCD Foundation, and Mr. Piroon Laismit, the executive director of the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD), recently took center stage at the prestigious "Thailand Friendly Design Expo," a renowned event held towards the end of this year. The expo served as a platform for promoting inclusivity and innovation, with a particular focus on enhancing accessibility for persons with disabilities.
One of the highlights of the event was the active participation of the APCD60+ Bakery & Chocolate café, where an array of bakery and beverage products crafted by individuals with disabilities was showcased. The offerings adhered to the high standards set by Thai Yamazaki Co., Ltd., highlighting the exceptional talents and capabilities of persons with disabilities in the culinary arts.
The overarching theme of the event aimed to drive Thailand towards becoming a model for inclusivity in various domains. The vision encompassed transforming the nation into a hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) that caters to everyone, fostering tourism that is accessible to all, promoting friendly design principles, and establishing itself as an international medical hub city with a commitment to leaving no one behind.
Looking ahead, anticipation is building for the 7th Thailand Friendly Design Expo in 2023. The upcoming exhibition promises to be a spectacular affair, showcasing, selling, and promoting a wide array of products, innovations, and services related to health, wellness, tourism, hotels, MICE business, and friendly design. The event is scheduled to take place from December 7th to December 10th, 2023, at Hall 100-101, spanning an impressive 12,000 square meters at the BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangna, Bangkok.
With its commitment to inclusivity and innovation, the APCD's active participation in the Thailand Friendly Design Expo underscores the importance of creating a society and business environment that caters to the diverse needs of all individuals, regardless of ability or background. The forthcoming expo in 2023 is poised to be a milestone event, further propelling Thailand towards its goal of becoming a beacon of accessibility and inclusivity in the ASEAN region.
