The "Second APCD/JAIF Project Regional Meeting" was organized by the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour–Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam (MOLISA) from 27 to 28 August 2013 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Meeting was arranged to share the achievement of the Project activities with over 120 delegates from the government, DPOs, NGOs, the business sector and other community partners in all the ASEAN countries and Japan.

Presentation of Challenges of Ratification on CRPD
As the back to back event of the Second APCD/JAIF Project Regional Meeting, the "ASEAN Meeting on Promoting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) towards Enhancing the Roles and Participation of Persons with Disabilities in the ASEAN Community" was organized by MOLISA in cooperation with APCD and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
With over 90 participants mainly from the governments of the ASEAN Members States, the Meeting was arranged according to strong commitment by the Government of Vietnam in promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. H.E. Mr.Nguyen Trong Dam, Deputy Minister of MOLISA publicly announced for the first time that the Government of Vietnam is going to ratify the CRPD by the end of 2014. Following such statement, the Memorandum of Understanding between MOLISA and APCD was also signed during the Meeting.
Workshop on the Roadmap for the Establishment of the Vietnam Autism Network, Vietnam, 29-30 August 2013
The New Elected Executive Members of Vietnam Autism Network
The "Workshop on the Roadmap for the Establishment of the Vietnam Autism Network" was held from 29 to 30 August 2013 with the theme: Towards a Friendly Community to Persons with Autism. The Workshop was organized by MOLISA and APCD in cooperation with the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) and the ASEAN Autism Network (AAN).
With over 80 participants, the highlight of the workshop included the establishment of the Vietnam Autism Network and adoption of the Recommendations which called for the inclusion of Autism in the laws, policies and programs related to disability in Vietnam.

The Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) for the ASEAN Region has been in close collaboration with APCD to promote continuing education opportunities for persons with disabilities.The third IDPP cohort visited APCD through the residency program sessions, to share the perspective on disability and development in the ASEAN countries mainly. IDPP colleagues exchanged with APCD and explored APCD's accessible facilities.
“Community for All” in Sisaket Province
Meeting with the Community Members
The CIAI-APCD Project “Community for All” plans to develop local committees in the target provinces to work on the promotion of community-based inclusive development. Members of the Project visited Sisaket province to strengthen the collaboration between the local communities in the province. The visit aimed to ensure the project’s feasibility in building the capacity of persons with disabilities through the collaboration with the Kantharalak Association of Persons with Disabilities and a Kantharalak Self-help Group.
