Wrist bands and brochures to be distributed to promote disability-inclusive business
ESCAP-Sasakawa Award for Disability-Inclusive Business in Asia and the Pacific, an award to publicly recognize and reward businesses that demonstrate good practices in responding to the needs of persons with disabilities in their business operations. The award is developed in partnership by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), The Nippon Foundation and Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD).
There are three Award categories including disability-inclusive multinational enterprises, disability-inclusive national or sub-national enterprise and disability-inclusive entrepreneurial business. The Award is designed to highlight businesses which have prominently feature innovative contributions to inclusive society. Businesses can be nominated by individuals, organizations, or by themselves. The Award is open to enterprises based and operating in any of the 58 countries and territories of the ESCAP region. The nominations open from 20 May to 19 August 2013.

The Way Forward: Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation on a Disability-Inclusive Development Agenda towards 2015 and Beyond, Bangkok, 15 – 16 May 2013
Adoption of the Asia-Pacific Input to the High-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Realization of the Millennium Development Goals and Other Internationally Agreed Development Goals for Persons with Disabilities
The Way Forward: Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation on a Disability-Inclusive Development Agenda towards 2015 and Beyond was organized at United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok from 15 to 16 May 2013 to finalize the draft outcome document of the Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation prepared for the High-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Realization of the Millennium Development Goals and Other Internationally Agreed Development Goals for Persons with Disabilities” (HLMDD) in New York on 23 September 2013.The event was organized by the government of Thailand in collaboration with Australian Government, UNESCAP, The World Bank and APCD.
One hundred fifty representatives mainly from the Asia-Pacific region to review the global preparatory process towards a disability-inclusive post-2015 development agenda and share their views during panel discussions regarding issues and statements addressed in the draft outcome document in relevant to the Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific.
On the final day of the meeting, “Asia-Pacific Input to the HLMDD” was adopted to enhance the new Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities, 2013 – 2022.

CIAI-APCD Project has been launched in April 2013. The project team members has started the data collection in collaboration with Sub District Administrative Organization (SAO) of Sisaket province. On-site field survey will be organized in order to collect data at the end of May. Courtesy visits to Chief Executive of SAO and potential partners will be arranged.
Meanwhile, the project team members are also preparing for selection of target SAOs in other areas including Kanjanaburi, Payao and Nakhon Srithammarat province in the next 3 months. A strategy map will be develop to present the location of target SAO, organizations for persons with disabilities, local service providers.
